STEP 1: Give English Language Test
To study in an English-Speaking Country, one needs to show proof of his/her communication skills in English. This gets evaluated through International Language Testing Systems like IELTS, TOEFL, and PTE.
STEP 2: Allocate the required documents
Different universities may have different requirements but it is fair to say that majority of universities look for:
1. Academic transcripts from Years 10 and above
2. Character Certificate
3. Passport
4. Statement of Purpose
5. Application from Filled
6. IELTS / TOEFL/ PTE
Note: If you have a dependent partner who wishes to make the application along with you then his/her’s academic transcript, passport & Marriage Certificate is required.
STEP 3: Apply to the university
Australia is home to some 40-plus universities, so the courses provided and fee structure may differ from one university to another. So, before you make any university application you need to research at least 10 universities and be certain that the course you are applying for is of interest and that the tuition fees suit your budget.
STEP 4: Receive and understand the offer letter
If your application is accepted then the university will issue a letter of offer, which might be either conditional or unconditional. The students need to study it carefully as it will have a lot of information that needs to be understood and the agreement needs to be signed or accepted. Some key things to observe in the offer letter are:
1. Check if there are any conditions you need to fulfill
2. What is the date of expiry of the offer letter?
3. How much money will you have to pay initially?
4. Read the refund policy carefully.
STEP 5: Arrange the financial documents
The applicants need to show proof that they have the necessary access to funds that will be required to pay for the expenses that will occur during their stay in Australia. There are 2 important things to keep in mind which is required to be presented
1. A large pool of funds.
2. Yearly income capacity of the sponsors
1. A large pool of funds.
The total amount of funds that will be required to showcase may differ in accordance with the university you apply to. A general rule to calculate the total amount that you will be required to present is = 1st year tuition fees + 1st year living expenses + Overseas Student Health cover + 2-way flight ticket. In most cases, the total sum to be shown will generally come to around 45 Lakhs equivalent to 56000 AUD.
The pool of funds can be shown either from a bank loan or bank balance where the source of income is transparent, traceable, and tax accountable.
2. Yearly income capacity of the sponsors
It is recommended that you show at least 18 Lakhs per year as income. Your parents should be your primary sponsor and if their income is not sufficient then your immediate relatives can commit to becoming your additional sponsor.
Example: If your parents’ total yearly income is 15 Lakhs then your immediate uncle, aunt, grandparents, or any other immediate members can commit to sponsoring you for the deficit amount.
STEP 6: Make Payment and receive Confirmation of Enrollment
Once the documents are complete, generally the first six months’ tuition fee needs to be paid upfront along with OSHC. That being said some universities also request the 1st year’s tuition fee upfront. It is crucial that the offer letter is well-read and understood to identify the initial amount to be paid. Payment has to don’t through the recommended bank listed by the particular university you have applied to. And it may take up to 4 working days for the fund to be completely transferred to the universities bank. Note: To make payments, the bank will ask for the “No Objection Letter“ which the students will have to acquire from the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology. To know more about the No Objection letter please click here. To download the application form for the No Objection Letter, Please click here
STEP 7: Apply for VISA
Applying for a visa can be a tedious process and should always be supervised by an experienced person as it is a highly sensitive task. Students should know that giving any false information during the application process can lead to a visa rejection and there is a lot of information that will be required to fill in. Several documents will be required to be attached to the online application portal and it is mandatory that all documents are attested/notarized by the concerned people with authority. In the overall application process, students will also be asked to perform a medical test and a biometric collection. The medical can be done only through 2 organizations: Norvic Hospital and International Organization for Migration Nepal. And biometric collection needs to be done at VFS Global.
